In this article, we are going to use VirtualBox to run Windows on your Mac.
Requirements
You need to have a Mac with MacOS and a Windows license (buy it here), and it’s recommended that you have 20 GB free disk space on your Mac. VirtualBox is a really small program that only takes 250 MB, but Windows is a lot lager.
Step 1: download everything
Download VirtualBox here and open the DMG file. Doubleclick the PKG file and walk through the installation process. If it’s done, download the Windows disk image. That can a little while, so grab a cup of tea while you wait.
Step 2: create the new machine
Once Windows is downloaded, open VirtualBox and click New in the menu bar. Name your machine, select Microsoft Windows in the first select box, and select Windows 10 (64 bit) in the second one.
Click Next and leave the memory size as it is. Again, click Next. Select Create a virtual hard drive now and continue by clicking the Continue button. You will be asked for a hard drive file type, select VDI and continue.
Choose the disk space. The wizard will ask you to set the disk space for the hard drive. You may select dynamically allocated or a fixed size. You may choose either, but often fixed size is better as it is faster and more stable.
Then select the location and size of the disk. The size can be less than 20 GB, but it’s recommended to make that larger then 20 GB, and click Create.
Step 3: install Windows
Launch your new virtual machine by opening VirtualBox and clicking on the machine. When a wizard shows up, select your downloaded ISO file. Follow the further instructions that will appear on your screen.
